CHOOSE LIFE

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: Deuteronomy 30:19 KJV

In life we are forever faced with having to make choices. We need to choose wisely. We need to choose God’s Word which is our Life. We are to ponder our steps by taking the necessary time to understand what God thinks about the direction we are taking. Notice Proverbs 4:26 which states:

Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. KJV

Since God’s Way is already established when we follow His Plan for our life we will be established. We should take time to pray, please do not make haste when faced with making decisions and choices. Remember Isaiah 28:16

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation, a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste. KJV

The choices we are making are usually tied to something else down the road, it could be bigger and better or distractions and hindrances to our life. For example when my husband and I moved from Michigan to Oklahoma, we had a choice in the matter. What if we decided to not follow the prompting we were getting from the Lord to relocate and go to a bible training school. Would we be in ministry today? Well I can honestly say, I don’t know. Would we have a clear conscious when praying to do God’s Will? Well I can honestly say, probably not! We made the decision to obey and follow the prompting we were getting to leave Michigan and move to Oklahoma. Would God still love us if we didn’t make the right choice to obey His Will, but rather choose to stay in Michigan? Yes, yes and thousand times yes because God loves us period. Romans 8:38-39 states:

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The Lord would still love us even if we didn’t fully obey His Will because He always loves us, for God is Love. However would we be pleasing to Him by choosing to honor our own way (our own will) over what He desired for us? The correct answer is, No! Does our decisions and choices cost us? Yes, all your decisions have a cost, whether good or bad. Will the choice cost you, or someone else or even Jesus Christ?. Oh yes, my friend the Blood of Jesus is still paying for mistakes we have made due to bad decisions and choices. Likewise, His goodness has also paved the Way for you inherit His Blessings. Whether you choose Godly thoughts of life or ungodly thoughts of death, you will reap what you sow. Now ask yourself, “What fruit am I showing to my family and friend and co-workers?” Most importantly what fruit am I presenting to God? Whatever fruit I am showing to God inside of me is a product of my own decisions and choices. I must say we can greatly hinder the plan of God in our lives by the choices and decisions we are making on a day-to-day basis. I think many times we don’t think the simple decisions and choices we make on a daily basis are of any major significance in our life. However, the truth is your thoughts will determine your decisions and choices every time. What you do in the everyday decisions today will make a huge difference in your life tomorrow. The Word of God implies your thinking determines your being. Notice Proverb 23:7 part “a”

For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: . . . . .KJV

Too many people are not realizing that their choices are in direct connection to something else, or we could say someone else. Are our decisions and choices a reflection of God tied to something good because they are a part of Some One Good, or are our decisions and choices a reflection of the world’s wisdom? Will you make the right choice and decision today?

Will you start by deciding to follow God by choosing Jesus Christ?

Choose to follow God’s Word, make a firm decision to be a disciple of Jesus. The choice you make today can either propel you to greater and bigger things or it can cause you to go backwards. Remember, beloved of God, no choice is already the wrong decision. The wrong decision will hinder and delay you, or even cause obstacles in your life instead of blessings. Choose wisely this day because everyday is a 24-hour gift from God. You might be thinking, “How do I choose right?” Choosing God’s Word starting in the New Testament has the right answer for you. God’s Word will help you to choose your words as well as the fruit of His Love for your actions. Choose life (Jesus as Savoir) over death (rejection of Jesus as your Lord). Weigh the pros and the cons of every decision in the balance of the Holy Bible. We both know a choice will be made right now by you, for either these words are a blessings to you or these same words are convicting you. The moment we wake up the decision process begins for the day. Choose Christ and life rather than defeat and death. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Always remember the seemingly small decisions and choices have great consequences later on, whether good or bad. Some decisions we make are not necessarily sin but just weights that are not God’s best. Although weights do not take us straight down, they do spiral us downward to the lower depths of weakness. Since sins and weights can both easily pull us away from God we must rely on God’s Grace to run our own personal race with patience according to Hebrews 12:1,2 (NLT) where God's Discipline Proves His Love:

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily hinders our progress. And let us run with endurance the race that God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from start to finish. He was willing to die a shameful death on the cross because of the joy he knew would be his afterward. Now he is seated in the place of highest honor beside God's throne in heaven.

Oh Lord Jesus please help us to let our decisions propel us to bigger and greater things in God. Let us accept Your Words as our words. Let us accept Your Ways above our ways. Our prayer Lord is to be one with You in thoughts, words and deeds (our actions). Jesus help us to be fruitful in the Kingdom of God. We purpose to make good decisions and choices according to Your Holy Written Word. Dear Heavenly Father, we decide to stay in constant fellowship with you, thus choosing to be propelled to higher heights in Jesus Christ as we continue to grow in His Love. Amen!

In His Love, Eric & Angela Foster
